Midweek Fun

Monday mornings always blow. That’s why I am glad it’s Tuesday.

Yesterday was quick, a little too quick. Seemed to just fly by. And i fell asleep and never got back to Ashley. Definitely feel bad because I do that way too often because of work. But anyway, In 18 days or whatever I’m going down to see her. Hopefully she can come back either at that time or soon there after because then if I move it will make things a hell of a lot easier.

I think my sleep schedule is finally fixed. Two weeks of hell with that but I am up at 6am and work at 4, so it shyould be all better.

Other than that I am 1-1 in my fantasy football league with all the guys. Shitty day for my team this week. Eh, I took the championship last year so I’m not scared just yet.

Pool definitely sometime this week. A lot of guys bugging me for when the next time we’d play will be. Thursday night seems like the easiest day to do it.

Petrino?

pet.jpg

So Petrino gets the job. To me, the Falcons aren’t that much more prestigous then Louisville. Word is Petrino will cut Michael Vick if he doesnt pan out to be a star this year. Word to the wise Petrino, I hope you have a day job.

Five reasons why Petrino won’t make it in Atlanta.

5. He is a great and young offensive man. Atlanta apparently needed this? They had the number 1 rushing game in the league. And if you want to tell me that their passing was 32nd I have got news for you. Yours would be too with a league low 416 attempts.

4. Michael Vick saw his first 16 game season and first 20 touchdown season this year under Jim Mora Jr.

3. If he did fire Vick, what would he tell season ticket holders who were coming for the simple fact they wanted to see Michael Vick run?

2. He has no Harry Douglas to be catching Brian Brohm balls. His offense was based on having 2 good wideouts and a pocket quarterback. Sound remotely familiar to the Atlanta offense? Didn’t think so. So should we expect Brohm to be drafted or Schaub to be starter in the next two years?

1. Only Jim Mora has had a winning record as a first year Atlanta coach. In fact, out of every Atlanta coach’s first 3 years on the team, only Dan Reeve’s has surpassed Mora’s excellence. (Both 26-22, Reeves led them to a losing Super Bowl in a fluke year)

playoffs

Hoorah, yesterday commensed the playoffs. Playoffs? haha oh Jim Mora, you make the playoffs what they are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qwq7BYOnDrM

Anyway i just about sucked on predictions for the post season opening round. No surprise though. I had a tremendous run for 9 years at predicting playoffs and championships. It immediately ended at Super Bowl 39 though. I havent been able to predict anything since. Yet, I’ll continue to though for fun.  I am just hoping the Pats and Eagles get their asses handed to them because if tehy make it I might as well not even watch. What a bore.

Who Took The Nasty Out Of Nati?

todo-4.jpg

What is going on in Cincinnati? This 8-8 team is the same team that was completely revamped and revolutionized under Marvin Lewis and expected to make a Super Bowl run this year. Now they are taking weekly bus trips to the jailhouse to pick up whichever player has decided it was his turn to be found possessing marijuana, driving drunk, or resisting arrest. Marvin Lewis has a simple technique in drafting and picking up free agents. If they have the slightest bit of talent, they are worth every 2am bail in the world. Chris Henry spent more time behind bars in the offseason than Mike Tyson, and that scares me. On top of it all, an 8-6 team coming off a hot streak managed to lose back to back weeks via their special teams. So what is so special? A win in either game would have jettisoned them into the playoffs. Instead the combination of Brad St. Louis and Shayne Graham have instantly suspended the chance of post season play for awhile. Oh, and Marvin. Next time you decide to waste 2 timeouts late in the 4th quarter, you better make sure the rule change was initiated to give each team 10 a game. Even if the losing play against the Steelers was a defensive fault, I still find Marvin Lewis and Shayne Graham at fault for the loss. Am I wrong to think so? Well, I don’t think all the prison sentences in the world could change my mind.

Brett Favre

brett-favre.jpg

I don’t see honestly how anyone can make a case to keep Brett Favre as a Packer. Basically, if he doesn’t retire he will return as starter. The problems?

5. He said this was the most talented Packer team he has played with. In 1996 and 1997 he led a Packer team to the Super Bowl. This season the team finished 8-8 with only one win against a winning team (Chicago in the finale).

4. He says many of his interceptions come when playing from behind. In 2005 he led the NFL in interceptions. How many games is he playing behind from? A quarterback should have leadership ability and the ability to win.

3. He chased Javon Walker out of town.

2. His return will only delay the rebuilding stage the Packers are in. Key future receivers like Robert Ferguson, Greg Jennings, and Ruvell Martin are developing a rapport with a man who can be gone at any time.

 1. Brett Favre’s return will further hinder the commensement of Aaron Rodgers career. The first round pick of 2005 is being payed big money to talk on a headset.

If Brett does return, it will boggle my mind why the Packers will start him.
